Oct. 4 — Hampshire College has narrowed down its search for a new Senior Director of Student Success & Retention down to two candidates: Temple Jordan, and Jenny Kurtz.
Jordan got her Master of Education in Organizational Leadership from Endicott College in 2007 and has served in residence life and social justice facilitation roles at various colleges and universities since.
Kurtz got her Master of Education in Social Justice Education from UMass Amherst in 2008 and has been Hampshire College’s director of Prevention and Education since August 2023, with previous roles in residence life and social justice facilitation at Smith College and Rutgers University.
The search committee, chaired by the Senior Vice President for Justice, Equity, and Antiracism, Dr. Sheila Lloyd, will be holding two open forums, one for each candidate.
Jenny Kurtz’s open forum will be on Thursday, October 3rd, from 10am to 11:15am, and Temple Jordan’s open forum will be on Friday, October 4th from 10am to 11:15am, both on Zoom. Links to the Zoom meetings can be found here.
The two candidates will discuss their visions for ensuring the success and belonging of BIPOC, international, queer, trans, neurodivergent, and disabled students, as well as non-carceral approaches to community standards. Students will have an opportunity to ask the candidates questions.
The position of Senior Director of Student Success & Retention has been vacant since the beginning of the semester, when the previous director, Shawn McQuillan-Krepps, left the college
