May 25 — Marilu Gamboa joined Hampshire College on March 20th as the new Director of Civil Rights Compliance & Title IX Coordinator.
Gamboa will ensure the college’s compliance with various civil rights laws, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as well as serving as the college’s Title IX Coordinator, responsible for handling and investigating sex-based harassment as defined by Hampshire College policy, and more narrowly defined Title IX Sexual Harassment defined by federal and state law.
Gamboa previously worked in the University of Southern California’s Office of Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX. Gamboa holds a BA from Smith College with a major in sociology and a minor in anthropology.

Gamboa replaces the interim Title IX Coordinator, Amy Fabiano.
In announcing Gamboa’s hiring, Senior Vice President for Justice, Equity, and Antiracism Dr. Sheila Lloyd thanked the members of the search committee that hired Gamboa: Verne Gulley, F23, Professor Kenneth Mulder, Director of Accessibility Resources & Services Teal Van Dyck, and President Ed Wingenbach.
